Early Hustling

I’ve always been on the hunt to make my next dollar.

It began in my childhood at some point. I can’t really pin point at what time it began, but I remember at a young age demanding pocket change from my grandma. (I was quite a little gangster back in the day! Sorry Grandma!)

I really think it had to do with my mom, teaching me at a young age how important it is to save up for the things you want, and the power of earning a buck. Of course she bought me toys all the time; any mother who can afford it will splurge on her child every now and then. However when I got a little older and started collecting things like Beanie Babies or Pokemon cards, I had to start dishing out the money myself.

I earned an allowance as a kid, and the allowance increased as I got older. At the age of 9, I got my first job as a fitted model for a swimwear company. (I’ll go into more detail on that job in a future post). My mom opened up a CD for me to save when I made my first $1,000, and that accrued interest for years. I believe we took it out of the CD when I was 16, and I was able to purchase my first car.

Over the years, I’ve worked many jobs, almost all of them part-time. My favorite jobs were the ones where I earned tips; bartending, serving…those were my favorite jobs. I always liked knowing that if I worked harder, I would make more money. That isn’t usually the case with a salary, where you make the same amount no matter how hard you work.

I’ve usually also had many different jobs at once, or at least different income streams. I’m almost always involved in some sort of direct sales company (I don’t always recommend these however, so please don’t go running out and joining Perfectly Posh).

I joined the National Guard at the age of 17, and in 2016 I joined the active duty. Most people don’t know that military members don’t make a whole lot of money. Really the only thing keeping me in is the insurance.

Now that you know a little bit about me, this is the part where I tell you what exactly the purpose of this blog is. I know lots of people are desperately in need of some cash fast, and others are comfortable with their finances, but just need a little more income to really afford the things they want, or to start a big juicy savings account (that last part is totally me!). I’m going to use this cyber space to show you different ways to make a little extra money, different ways to save and invest, and tell you about different money saving tips and techniques. I’ll be providing a “financial transparency” section, where I let you follow me and see exactly how much I’m saving at the moment, and where I’m finding the extra cash.

I hope you can find some use out of my blog, and inspire you to become the money savvy rockstar that you know you are.
