Money Bloggers Lie
Yep. They do.
It’s quite unfortunate, actually. It would be too wonderful if life was as beautiful and easy as they make it out to be.
I mean, just go on Pinterest and type in “money”. The search results are filled with beautiful pictures, linking to blog posts about how a 24 year old girl makes $60,000 in just one month of blogging (and the blog is only 3 months old!) Keep scrolling and you’ll see other’s promising to just take surveys and pay your rent, or listen to music to pay your car this month.

The truth is, people, that they are LYING. Straight up, lying.
Now, I can’t sit here and tell you that there aren’t a couple out there who really are making tons of money from blogging, or doing quirky jobs to get by. But a majority of them are full of it.
I recently read a blogpost from a guy who was informing the readers on how to make a million dollars by selling ebooks. He went into how easy it is to whip up a book in three days, list it on Amazon, repeat the process 4 times, and before you know it you’re a millionaire.
He even continued to instruct the readers to change their pen name every couple of books so someone wouldn’t steal all of their work. Good tips!
At the end of the post, however, there was a disclaimer, stating that he had never actually written an ebook. Not once.
It’s too easy to do research on a topic, become an expert, pick gorgeous, free pictures off of the internet, and make an awesome blog post. It’s even easier to convince someone that you are legit. (Whether or not it’s morally correct is a completely different story)
To me, it seems as if these bloggers are only in it for the money. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with trying to make some money, I mean, that’s what my entire blog is focused on! What I do feel, however, is that if you don’t have a personal connection to what you’re writing about, it shows in your writing, and just seems generic and made up.
Me personally? Sure, I’d love to make money on my blog some day! I even aspire to it! However I make sure that every single thing I write about is important to me in some way. For example, pretending to be a mermaid is a thing. I’m not into that thing, so I’m not going to write a blog post about it because I found out that thousands of people are into it (unless of course I find a way to relate that topic to money, then I’d be all over that!) I’m also not going to write a post teaching people how to perform a colonoscopy, because I’ve never done one, and don’t have the experience or knowledge to be teaching that to someone.
The point I’m trying to convey is to not believe everything you see on Pinterest or in blog posts. Behind that picture of a beautiful young girl reading a book on the beach might be a middle aged, unshaven man just looking to make another dollar.
Go get that paper babes, but make sure you are being true to yourself.
