Goals For November
I apologize for the late post. I start work at my new unit here at Fort Meade today, so I’ve been a lot busy and a little mopey. I dread working full time for a salary, when I could be earning money doing something I really love, but for now, this is what needs to be done in order to reach my financial goals!! So, let’s get on with the post, shall we?
Getting discouraged is just a part of life. I learned this the hard way this past month.
The month of October came and went just like any other month, except this month was different for me. I became overwhelmingly discouraged.
It started out alright; I had just gotten over the fact that my family had moved on to Maryland without me, when all of a sudden I found myself scrambling to pack the rest of the apartment, fill my car with everything, put my Poshmark, Ebay, and Etsy on vacation mode, and hopped on a plane to California.
I couldn’t bring my inventory with me, so during my few days in California I wasn’t able to make a single sale. I did, however, get to finally see my husband, who met me in California and would later fly with me to Texas and drive the rest of the way to Maryland. (I appreciate you, babe!) This, I believe, was the reason I had such a terrible month.
I’m not even going to go over my goals that I had set for October, because I know for a fact that I didn’t reach a single one. Other than the fact that I have about 1,050 Instagram followers (yay!) and I had done a successful giveaway to celebrate, this month was nothing to brag about.
$276.45. That is the amount that I made in October with my reselling. And boy did I put in work on Poshmark after I had finally re-opened my shop! I just couldn’t seem to get the sales. It almost made me feel as if all of a sudden I had sold all of my good inventory, and all that remained was crap. I even got my backdrop set up and started to take really good shots of the items on my dress form, but that didn’t seem to help either. I just wasn’t going to reach my goal of $600.
I can’t lie, I almost knew that I wouldn’t reach that goal, even though I went to a thrift store in every state I went through and uploaded new inventory like crazy. I just knew that by being offline for the first part of the month, I just wouldn’t be able to pull through.
Needless to say, that leaves me really discouraged for the month of November. Today is November 3rd, and yesterday I made one sale. It’s not starting off too well for me, so I’m going to have to do something drastic. I start work this week, too, which definitely won’t help (although my best month so far was during my busiest work month this year!) but I am determined to do my best! I mean, that’s all we can do, right?
I’m lucky enough that my financial situation doesn’t depend on my reselling money, but I have to keep in mind that if I want to be able to do this full time, I’m going to have to be making killer profits on these platforms!
That being said, this month I’m going to try to list more items on Ebay and Etsy, and possibly participate in a craft show if I can squeeze one in on time. I plan on hitting up the thrift stores during their sale days, and stocking up on good, quality inventory. I already made friends with my awesome new neighbor, and she loves thrifting too! It will be fun to go with someone else for a change, and that in the end is what’s most important: having fun!
I guess this is where I put my goals for November, huh? Well, I’m going to keep it simple: I plan to keep my goal from last month, and try to make $600 on my reselling platforms (and Etsy). I know I can do it if I work hard enough and have faith! So I’m going to keep doing my very best.
If you’re curious about Poshmark, either for buying or selling, make sure to use code SALTYSHREDS for $5 off of your first purchase!
